These Japanese paper towels, called “Kaya Kiji Fukin” , are the product of the expertise of one of the last mosquito net factories in Japan. Each piece is carefully woven in Nara Prefecture and then hand-embroidered in Wakayama , guaranteeing unique quality and refinement.

According to tradition, these paper towels originated when factory workers began using fabric scraps to make linens for their personal use. They embroidered designs inspired by their everyday objects, giving each piece a unique charm and story .

Versatile, they can be used as:

  • Vegetable drying rack

  • Kitchen or house towels

Softness and absorbency

A starch finish is applied to make the fabric stiff enough for embroidering the designs. After an initial wash in lukewarm water, the texture becomes soft, supple, and fluffy , with greater absorbency than cotton (1.3x) and very quick drying.
