Swedish society has roots dating back to the late 1800s. During this period, an association was established in Stockholm to encourage visually impaired people to actively participate in society and gain equal access to employment.
Brush manufacturing in Enskede, located just outside Stockhom, is at the heart of the company's business. Six visually impaired artisans from different cultures make brushes according to an old Swedish tradition. Iris Hantverk also works with Estonian artisans who have a history strongly linked to the visual impairment movement.
In 2012, the company transferred ownership to former employees who were excited to take over a business rich in history and tradition. They work hard to ensure that customers around the world enjoy the feel and quality of a hand-assembled brush made from natural materials.
