This superb set consists of 7 Japanese Sumac candles, a black cast iron candle holder and a magnificent paulownia wood box.

Sumac is extracted from the fruit of the ha-ze tree, a precious material which is used to coat the candle wick, one layer at a time, until it reaches the desired shape.

The candle wick is made from washi paper , rush , and silk fiber. Its shape is inspired by the pine trees that grow in Nanao, in the Ishikawa region, where these candles are produced.

Traditional candles exclusively use plant-based materials because They burn constantly, for more light, and for longer without excess wax dripping or smoking when the flame is extinguished .

Sumac candles burn beautifully and radiate a warm glow . They are widely used in traditional tea ceremonies, Buddhist altars, and temples.
