Mugicha is a Japanese infusion made from roasted barley, very popular in Japan, especially in summer. Naturally caffeine-free , it is prized for its mild, roasted flavor, similar to light coffee or toast, while remaining incredibly refreshing, whether hot or cold.

Precautions for use

Quantity to use: approximately 15 grams per 500 ml of water (can be infused hot or cold)
Water temperature: 100°C for hot infusion / cold water for cold infusion
Brewing time: 15 to 30 minutes hot / 2 to 4 hours cold

For an iced version, let it infuse in cold water and then place in the refrigerator.

About the Ippodo house

Ippodo's origins date back three centuries, to 1717, when Rihei Watanabe founded his first shop, called Omiya, near the Kyoto Imperial Palace, specializing in the sale of tea and ceramics. In 1846, the shop was renamed Ippodo, which literally means "preserving a tradition."

The name was given by Prince Yamashina, a great lover of Ippodo tea, who wished for the shop to perpetuate a single tradition: offering high-quality tea. Since then, Ippodo has continued to offer exceptional teas while remaining true to this heritage.
