Japanese hammer with octagonal head in forged steel , “ Genno ” type.

Genno is a steel that is hard on the outside and softer on the inside, which allows for better inertia but also optimal shock absorption when striking.

Used in particular by carpenters and cabinetmakers, Japanese hammers with an octagonal head allow the strike to be guided along a block or a piece of wood to allow the tip to enter the wood in the straightest way possible . Its “broken” angles also allow it to be used at 45° to insert a point into an angle.

The flat face of the hammer is used to strike wood chisels or to drive nails near the inside edge of a workpiece . Use the convex side to minimize the risk of damaging the wooden surface when you finish driving the nail!

The quality of the steel and wood used as well as the general balance of the tool make it a quality object , which will support you in your daily tasks.
